PLAY.FIT.FUN YOUNG HERO OF THE MONTH

Do you know a young person that’s making a difference?
At home…at their school…in the community?

We at Play.Fit.Fun want to know about them!
Once per month, we choose 2 Young Heroes Of The Month:  Younger heroes come from kindergarten through 6th grade.  Our older heroes come from 7th-12th grade.

The criteria is broad:

Picking up litter in the community…volunteering at a homeless shelter…raising money for charity…volunteering to coach/teach kids in the community…helping kids who have been bullied…volunteering time during recess to help kids…helping homeless/shelter animals find their forever homes…organizing food drives…collecting clothes for low income or homeless families…you name it!

If you have a student, son, daughter, brother, sister, neice, nephew, or friend…that you would like to nominate, simply fill out the field below:

March Hero of the Month

K- 6TH GRADE HERO:

Mira Coday is a 2nd grader at Bonny Slope Elementary School.  Mira loves helping younger kids in her school.  In one class, she’s been seen sacrificing her own enjoyment to make sure younger kindergarten and 1st grade students understand the instructions.  I love how she is so focused on younger students and wants to make sure that they are having a great time.  I asked her once why she helps the younger kids once, and she said:  “I was young once, and I just want to make sure the younger kids have a good time.”

7TH-12TH GRADE HERO:

Sarah Ufer is an 11th grader at Mountainside High School.  Sarah loves being with and helping students with disabilities. She is an advocate to help them in many many different ways. She is intimately involved in helping set up the unified program at Mountainside high school, where kids with  disabilities mix with mainstream kids to play sports like basketball, soccer, etc….  From participating with her fellow classmates or coaching them, she is always there, making sure that everybody has a terrific experience.  It is wonderful to see Sarah help make sure that everybody lives their best lives, and perhaps help people understand that we’re all different and we all offer amazing gifts to our world.  She has been a dedicated person helping unite our community in so many different ways.
